AFAM (Franco-English Association of Le Mans) is a non-profit association that was founded in Le Mans in 2013 by a small group of British and French people who wanted to meet and chat in English over drinks and nibbles on a regular basis. The association organises wide-ranging events in Le Mans which include festive get-togethers for St Patrick’s Day, whisky, wine and cheese tastings, a garden party, as well as Halloween and Christmas events to celebrate in the traditional British way. The programme varies from year to year but may also feature cultural outings, excursions in the region and cinema nights.
AFAM is not just for English native speakers! It is also a great opportunity for French people and other nationalities to practice and maintain their English. And for everyone, it’s a chance to meet up with old and make new friends of different nationalities and learn a little more about each other’s culture. You don’t need to speak perfect English. You just need a basic knowledge of Shakespeare’s tongue and the desire to chat in a friendly, relaxed environment.
AFAM does not host English courses; there are specialised language schools in Le Mans that offer that service and our events are not intended to be language classes. However, our English native speakers will be more than happy to share tips on how to improve your English.
The annual membership fee is €25 per person or €45 for a couple. We are always happy to welcome new members into our association. Our events are fun and take place in a happy, welcoming atmosphere.
See you soon.
